Today I explored the ruins of Uxmal (oosh-mahl). They were the first ruins I've seen. And they were the oldest buildings I've ever seen. The first sight was of a huge pyramid. Simply amazing and overwhelming. The day was clear and sunny. I am really brown now. I wasn't feeling good the entire day, though. But that didn't stop me from being fascinated by the enormousness of it all.
We climbed to the top of one building, and from the top I could see everything. The ruins erupting from the surrounding forest. The hugeness of the world. The tiny people waving below. I thought, "This must be what it feels like to be royalty."
